Coins For Connor
The leaves are falling, the water is colder and the students are running to help fight against cancer. At St. Monica’s instead of the “Terry Fox Run” we have the “Coins for Connor” run to honour Connor, a former student who lost his battle to leukemia in 2008. “Coins for Connor” is an event that St. Monica’s has every year. The route is about 5km along the Johnson’s Beach Rail Trail. The run was on Friday, October 21, but not everyone went to Johnson’s Beach. JK-Gr.2 students stayed at the school and ran the track. Although it was cold and rainy, the Saints still had lots of fun. St. Monica’s students raised $810 that will be donated to the “CIBC Run for the Cure”. Every year there is also a “Courage of Conner Award” given out. This year, the award went to Mrs Goodfellow for having bravely overcome her own battle with cancer last year.
