Pancake Celebration!

On Tuesday, February 28th, SMO students gathered in the gym to celebrate Pancake Tuesday, hosted by Mrs. Rumney’s Grade 5 class. Everyone from Kindergarten to Grade 8 gathered to the gym to eat fluffy pancakes. To take part in this sweet celebration, students were encouraged to either bring in two dollars or to make a donation of canned foods. In the gym, there were magic tricks, and hawaiian themed necklaces and bracelets handed out to all the guests. Each person that attended this pancake celebration got to have two light and fluffy pancakes, and a glass of creamy milk. This year Shrove Tuesday was hawaiian themed, with palm trees, and flower leis on each table.
If students brought any extra canned food then they got ballots to enter into the special VIP raffle. If students won their class raffle, then they got to go to the VIP lounge where there was entertaining cartoons and the smell of pancakes in the air.  Students who attended the special VIP lounge got four pancakes and a wide variety of toppings including chocolate chips, sprinkles, whipped cream, spicy cinnamon hearts, fluffy marshmallows and different types of syrups. With the help of the wonderful parent volunteers (the cooks) Pancake Tuesday was a sweet success.
